Corporate Podcasting: Managing Content Creation Resources

There is no denying it: producing a corporate podcasting show can be a time consuming endeavor.

We would be lying if we said that planning and creating a podcast is easy and could happen overnight… this is what we are here for: to help you navigate the corporate podcasting waters.

As we continue to look at the different potential obstacles podcasters (and other content creators) face, we focus on yet another challenge: the resource intensiveness challenge.

The Different Layers of Resources Intensiveness in Content Creation

There are a few different aspects involved in managing your content creation resources.

First, there are people and skills.

Particularly in a corporate setting, you only have so many employees and team members who can be allocated to different things. And it isn’t only a matter of labor, it is a matter of skilled labor.

Do you have people who possess the right skills to carry out the necessary steps for planning, creating, editing, and publishing content?

Then, there are tools and applications

Sometimes your organizational toolkit may not have the breadth and depth needed to create content at scale.

Does your company have the tools, applications, and overall infrastructure needed to achieve your content production and content marketing goals?

Lastly is the spatial component. Depending on the type of content you want to create, you might not always have access to the right space to help you produce it.

Think about a specific location to record video content or an area that has good acoustics for you to record audio content, for example.

An additional consideration that can be overlooked when producing content at scale is the experience of the content consumers.

What would you want your listeners, readers, or viewers to feel as they are listening, reading or watching your podcast episodes, articles, or videos?

It is important to keep all of this in mind as you address the resource intensiveness that producing content at scale can entail.

The reason for this is simple: the experience your target customers have as they are consuming your content will have an impact on the content leading to lead generation and conversions.

A Possible Solution?

Even though the resource intensiveness of creating content may appear intimidating, it can be addressed and solved with some relatively simple steps.

Certain tools and applications, for instance, can help with your overall workflow. Platforms like Zapier, Integrately or Integromat enable you to connect different tools and automate certain steps of the creation process.

Furthermore, members of your team from other departments or roles may have applicable skills to help reach your content creation goals.

By encouraging inclusiveness and carrying out an “internal audit” to identify such skills, you may find you have in-house talent perfect to execute the missing link in your process, be it planning, production, editing, or publishing.

If that seems like a challenge, you can always rely on others to train your team and build their foundational skill set, while increasing its overall breadth and depth.

Soon members of your social media team, for example, could become contributors in producing your video content.

The person who only does social media, for example, could become someone who can contribute

It is about combining everything at your disposal to support the efficiency and scalability of your team.
